Becoming a Coach (volunteer) with Morris United

Requirements to be a Morris United Coach

If you are interested in becoming a coach or other volunteer with the Morris United Soccer Club, please reach out to the director for the program that interests you:

All coaches and volunteers with the Morris United Soccer Club are required to meet minimum education and training standards to help ensure the enjoyment and safety of our players. 


All adult coaches & adult volunteers must complete (required)

  • A registration with the Morris United Soccer Club (every year)
  • A background check (every two years) - done at the time of registration
  • A SafeSport certification administered by the US Center for SafeSport (initial certification, followed by yearly refresher courses).   Please follow this   link to NJYS on instructions to register for SafeSport training.


All coaches must complete (required)

  • U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) Concussion Education (one time).   Please follow this link to the CDC HEADS UP to Youth Sports: Online Training. 


Recreation coaches are recommended to complete (not required)

  • U.S. Soccer coaching license (on-line or in-person) for the age of the players being coached (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, or 11v11), or
  • NJ Youth Soccer certificate course, or
  • NJ Youth Soccer Y-Course (not valid to coach travel soccer)


Travel coaches must complete (required)

  • A valid Coaching Education as stipulated by NJ Youth Soccer.

NJ Youth Soccer Travel Coach education options include:

  • U.S. Soccer coaching license (on-line or in-person) administered through the U.S. Soccer Learning Center, or
  • NJ Youth Soccer certificate course (formerly F-License), or 
  • U.S. Soccer National D, C, B, A (youth) licenses.  


TOPSoccer coaches must complete (required)

  • TOPSoccer coaching course administered by NJ Youth soccer (link)


TOPSoccer buddies must complete (required)

  • TOPSoccer buddy course administered by NJ Youth soccer (link).

Log into the Stack Sports (Sport Connect) registration system

  1. Click the below button to open the Morris United Stack Sports registration page,
  2. Enter your email address when prompted and click continue,
  3. Enter your password when prompted and click continue.


If you do not have an account please create one.

Choose your volunteer opportunity and the person registering

  1. Choose the 2022-2023 Coach or Volunteer opportunity to which you are registering,
  2. Choose the person whom you are signing up under "Sign up Name" or "Sign up a new user."
  3. Click Continue.

Morris United Sports Connect volunteer application

Complete the entire application form

  1. Enter all of the information requested under "Contact Information"
  2. Make sure to use your full legal name.
  3. Enter your social security number under proof of identification (for background check).  NOTE: The Morris United Soccer Club and NJ Youth Soccer are unable to see your social security number. 
  4. Complete the additional information section.
  5. Click Continue

Morris United Sports Connect Volunteer Status Screen

Submit a background check request and any coaching certificates

You are now at the volunteer "Roles and Certificates" screen.   This screen is used to upload certificates, submit requests for background checks (risk status), and to track the overall status of a volunteer's compliance with requirements. 


  1. If your "Risk Status" is "None" or the "Expiration Date" is "Expired" you MUST submit a new  background check request, place a check next to the box by Risk Status,
  2. If you have coaching documents to upload (e.g. concussion certificate, coaching certificate, or SafeSport certificate), place a check next to the box to upload the certificate,
  3. Once done choosing items, click the  Renew & Update button.

  1. Please enter the requested information in the Background Check Screening Form,
  2. Please remember to use you LEGAL NAME
  3. Once done entering your information, please check the Submit button. 

  • Your background check request is now submitted with the state.
  • You may return to the Volunteer "Roles and Certificates" page to see the status of your background check.
  • Please allow 1-2 weeks for the background check to be completed. 
  • NOTE:  the Morris United Soccer Club and NJ Youth Soccer do not have access to your social security number.  
  • NOTE:  The Morris United Soccer Club does not have access to any information  regarding  background checks, other than the status once complete.

  • If you chose any documents to upload, a certifications page will appear, and you can upload any available documents.

  1. Click the upload button next to the document you chose to upload,
  2. Click submit once all documents have been uploaded.

  • Please take care to upload the correct document under the correct heading. 


Morris United Sports Connect volunteer status

Return at a later date to upload documents and see your status.

  • You may return at any time to see the status of your authorization to coach or to upload additional documents by logging into the Morris United Stack Sports platform and clicking volunteer.
